2012 Contest

The Broad River Review is proud to announce the winners of The Rash Awards in Fiction and Poetry for 2012.

Abigail Lipscomb of Fincastle, Virginia, won The Rash Award for Fiction for her story “Carousel.”

Karen Luke Jackson of Hendersonville, North Carolina, won The Rash Award for Poetry for “A Triptych on the First Anniversary of My Mother’s Death.”

Both winners receive $500 and publication in the 2013 volume of the Broad River Review, which will appear in late April.

Mary Larkin of Sarasota, Florida, and Jacqueline Guidry of Kansas City, Missouri, were cited with Honorable Mentions in Fiction.

William Wright of Marietta, Georgia, and Tim Sherry of Tacoma, Washington, were cited with Honorable Mentions in Poetry.

Jill McCorkle of Hillsborough, North Carolina, and Kathryn Stripling Byer of Cullowhee, North Carolina, served as judges for the fiction and poetry contests, respectively.

The next entry period for The Rash Awards will begin on August 1, 2013, and conclude on November 15, 2013. Full contest rules will be available in the summer at broadriverreview.org.
